At Ithaca College Matt Podd studies composition with Dr. Dana Wilson. Following his versatile interests in listening to many types of music, he has also written in a wide variety of styles. With pieces ranging from multi-movement works for wind ensemble to charts for jazz band, he is comfortable and enjoys writing in both classical and jazz settings. Matt also writes for commercial purposes. His classical training has served him well as a composer of jingles and film music.

Matt has been teaching piano, drum set, composition, and Sibelius, (notation software) for several years. Sibelius is the software that Matt, and many other composers use to input their compositions or arrangements into notation on the computer. His experience with teaching has included beginning and intermediate students ranging from elementary school students to adults.

Matt performs regularly on piano and drum set in classical and jazz settings. He provides entertainment for restaurants, weddings, parties, and other occasions. He also works actively as an accompanist, pit musician, pit director, church organist, and choir director.
